San Miguel de Allende is a city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. It is located at an altitude of 1910 and is located 274 kilometers from Mexico City, 97 km from the city of Guanajuato, 157 km from León, and 142 km from Moroleón.
The 7 of July of 2008 was declared by Unesco Cultural heritage patrimony, Under the title of Protective Villa of San Miguel el Grande and Sanctuary of Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco, the distinction was granted due to its cultural and architectural contribution to the Mexican Baroque and its importance in the Mexican Independence from Spain.
The 1 November 2013 was named by Condenast Traveler magazine as the best city in the world along with other 24 cities that are renowned for their great cultural contribution, architectural beauty and fun places. 4
Before it was part of the project "magical towns", but due to this last distinction of Unesco, its designation was changed.
